Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a cost to get Ferman’s 10-Minute Appraisal?
No. The service is complimentary.
How do you determine the value of my vehicle?
Many factors affect the value of a vehicle…from how a vehicle was cared for…whether a vehicle has had more than one owner…to whether it’s had structural, accident or flood damage…to the market supply and demand for a particular vehicle. During the appraisal process, Ferman’s Appraisal Specialists will provide a thorough physical inspection to determine the condition of your vehicle’s exterior, interior, undercarriage and under the hood. We will note the year, make, model and mileage, run a vehicle history report and road test your vehicle. We may also look at other determinants such as sales trends as well as industry value and pricing resources.
What if I don’t agree with the appraisal?
Ferman will offer to purchase a vehicle for our appraised value. You are under no obligation to sell your vehicle to Ferman.
Will you always buy my vehicle?
Once your vehicle is appraised, we will present you with an offer. If you like our offer, you can sell us your vehicle. If you don’t like our offer, you are under no obligation to sell your vehicle.
Can I sell my vehicle outright, or do I have to trade for a new Ferman vehicle?
We’re always looking for great used cars to update our used car inventory. You can sell us your car at any time and are under no obligation to purchase one from us. It’s that simple.
If I sell my vehicle to Ferman, do I have to purchase a Ferman vehicle?
No. You are under no pressure or obligation to buy a vehicle from Ferman.
What if I want to trade-in my car?
If you’d prefer to trade-in your vehicle instead of selling it to Ferman outright, that’s perfectly OK. It’s so much easier and faster.
When I trade-in my vehicle will I receive a sales tax benefit?
Yes, you will. When you trade-in your vehicle at the same time you purchase your new vehicle you should be eligible for a sales tax credit on the difference.
Do I need an appointment?
No, you do not, but you may schedule one if you wish.
Can I get an appraisal online or over the phone?
Ferman is unable to provide appraisals over the phone. Because the vehicle needs to be present for an appraisal you may visit any of the Ferman dealerships in Hillsborough, Pinellas or Pasco counties.
Do I have to sell my vehicle at the time it’s appraised, or can I think about it and come back at a later time?
We will appraise your vehicle and present a written offer that is valid for up to three (3) days provided that the vehicle has not been altered or modified or damaged and all equipment that was part of the vehicle as originally valued is still present.
If I’m still making payments on my vehicle can I still sell my vehicle to Ferman?
If you have substantial equity in your vehicle and do not owe more than what your vehicle is worth, we can arrange a loan payoff and provide you with the difference between the appraisal and payoff.
What if I owe more than my car is worth?
You can simply make up the difference and we will satisfy your debt.
Once I accept your offer and agree to sell my vehicle, how and when will I be paid?
Ferman will conduct a title and lien search, verify all ownership information and arrange for any payoffs. Should everything check out, we can issue your check the next business day.
Are all sales final?
Yes.
Besides my vehicle, what else do I need to bring with me?
• Ferman requires valid proof of vehicle ownership at the time of sale. You must bring your current registration listing you as the owner.
• Ferman requires you provide us with a valid driver’s license, or state-issued photo ID.
• To facilitate transfer of ownership, you must provide us with your vehicle’s title or lender’s payoff information. If you have a payment coupon booklet, please bring it with you.
• If there is more than one owner, all of the owners must be present at the time of transaction.
• Please provide us with all sets of keys and remotes.
• It’s always beneficial when selling a vehicle to bring along your vehicle’s owner’s manual and past service records.
